LCL Race 3: Wimbledon Common

Round 3 of 6: Wimbledon Common

Thanks to everyone who raced in or organised race 3 of the season! Wimbledon Common was looking glorious in fading Autumnal sunshine and the course was muddy underfoot. A tough, undulating and twisty course with good hills makes it a great test for true cross country runners.

Ladies team results: Rumble in the Richmond Jungle!

St Mary's maintain their top spot with 586 points.

Highlight of the meet is the thriller of a contest between UCL and King's for top spot on the UL ladies team competition. One solitary point separated these two households (both alike in dignity) after the first race on Hampstead Heath and the sequel did not disappoint. From this ancient grudge breaks a new mutiny as the entirety of both UCL and King's first team runners were separated by a total of only 9 seconds at the finish!

Maria Blocher (King's) had a storming run to finish 8th in 17:36, but only 4 seconds behind was Meg Kobza of UCL, followed by her teammates Ella Fuller (17:44) and Emily Bliss (17:45), who finished with exactly the same time as Laura Oransfield of King's, a mere 2 seconds later Shannon Colman finished in 15th place, completing the King's first team.

King's and UCL are still only separated by a single point, but in a reversal to the result on the Heath, UCL are now ahead 521 points to 520.

The Ladies team contest now reads:

1   St Mary's 586
2 University College London 521
3 King's College London 520
4 Brunel University 485
5 Imperial College London 479
6 King's II 463
7 University of Reading 458
8 Royal Holloway 450
9 UCL II 426
10 King's III 395
